I Arrived at Lake Garda mid March, what an incredible place. I started 2 weeks of training with Mika as I am not used to teaching from a boat, and the methods she uses for lessons.

I learnt quite a lot and it was fun although tiring work. we did lots of training of how to launch and land a kite from a boat, driving the kite upwind as well as various line problems and different teaching techniques.

Driving a kite upwind on lake Garda

I am from Cape Town, South Africa where I have lived for most of my life, I recently finished High School at the end of 2013 .I worked for an IKO kitesurfing school in Cape Town where I taught in onshore conditions with waves. I am an IKO level 1 instructor, which I hope to change to level 2 by at least half way through the season.

It has been quite an adjustment for me both in climate and teaching style but I am really looking forward to the coming season and continuing my learning as well as my own personal progress in kiting at this perfect spot with extremely stable winds that are quite different to Cape Towns’ strong, gusty conditions – Also there are no sharks to worry about in the lake which is a big plus!
