KB4 Girls camp 2013!

Alex and Ushi ready to be launched from the boat during the KB4 girls camp, Lake Garda 2013!

Alex and Ushi ready to be launched from the boat during the KB4 girls camp, Lake Garda 2013!

We had 6 girls for our KGB4 Girls camp 2013, (Ushi, Jo, Christiane, Alex, Sibylle and Inge) and great fun was had by everyone, whatever their level! From complete beginner to unhooked riding – we had a great mix this year and were able to split the girls into beginner and advanced groups. Jo made her first ever body drags in water, flying around the lake. She was having so much fun we had to catch her up and ask her to stop eventually – all we could hear all over the lake was her giggling!

In the beginning of the week, the wind was a bit light. After being very strong during the whole of August, it had a short break but we made up for it with some great wakeboarding sessions. The wakeboarding was really helpful, especially for the girls that were waterstarting and by the end of the week we got Inge and Sibylle to a stage where they were nicely independant – riding upwind, turning and even starting switch! During the rest of the week, the wind came back and the girls even did two sessions on 1 day!! Christiane made some great progress from last year and got riding and few times nicely on her board. Alex and Ushi were our most advanced riders. Alex made some great progress with her backrolls and also made some great jump transistions, also trying some unhooked riding. Ushi made some nice jumps and also super classy carve transisitons that will serve her well for any future downwinding!

In between all the kiting we also had some slackline action, with Ushi proving that she had the best balance 😉 and the girls had some Stand Up Paddle fun with our resident Italian, Hero (otherwise known as Enrico, our assistant instructor)!

We didn’t just have fun on the water either, the girls were a really lovely, funny crowd this year and the evenings, allthough not long as we were all wiped out by our time on the water, were highly entertaining. Best quote of the week has to go to ‘kitesurfer’ Jo and we definately had the best dinner time stories from Inge…( I never realised the educational value of youtube!?) One evening we snuck over on the boat and had dinner in Malcesine. Its a lovely town to explore and dinner from the Italian pirates was quite entertaining!

All in all it turned out to be a great week, despite a little evening rain for the girls camping and we look forward to another great girls camp next year!

The forcast also looks good for the near future! The next pro coaching weekend is on the 14th and 15th of september and it is still possible to book yourself a place on the boat.

The lower season is just the beginning of two other incredible kitecamps organised from the 22th of september until the 28th and The 20th of october until the 26th. Don’t miss this week!:) You can also combine the kiting with other incredible activities around the lake!

If there is no wind, try to SUP to the waterfall and enjoy the amazing view of the mountains around you!
